Castor oil has been used as a cure-all throughout the world for more than 3000 years; referred to in early herbal texts as Palma Christi ('palm of Christ') for its abundant healing properties.

A versatile vegetable oil, this classic cure-all is extracted from the seeds of the castor oil plant.  Its benefits derive from the essential fatty acids omega-6 and -9 that it contains, including ricinoleic acid, a humectant with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.  It is a valuable source, too, of the natural antioxidant vitamin E.

Castor oil's emollient and humectant qualities are ideal for smoothing and soothing dry, flaky lips and skin, for providing a protective barrier.  It is equally beneficial for hair and nail growth: nourishing eyebrows and cuticles.
